“Not Just A Punk Band”: Die Spitz announces World Tour

Die Spitz, a band celebrated for their electrifying performances in their hometown of Austin, Texas, are hitting the road for their first headlining tour. They simultaneously announced signing with Jack White’s Third Man Records, after leaving local nonprofit Spaceflight Records. Their live shows, characterized by requests from the punk band for barking, cacophony, and mosh pits, have cultivated a dedicated local following.

High school juniors Ava Schrobilgen, Kate Halter, and Ellie Livingston formed the band during COVID-19, and all three feature as unique vocalists in the bands discography. Drummer Chloe Anderson quickly joined them, and soon thereafter began their rise – winning Best Punk, Best New Act, and Best Residency at the Austin Music Awards in 2023, supporting indie-rock duo Sleater-Kinney last summer on a portion of their national tour, and most recently headlining Creem Magazine’s 2025 SXSW showcase.

Fans often label Die Spitz as punk (their latest single, “My Hot Piss,” features cover art of jeans covered in the song’s namesake), but the band defies easy categorization. In an Alternative Press interview, vocalist Chloe Livingston stated, “We’re releasing a single soon—literally a metal ballad, but with an acoustic guitar, and I’m also playing slide guitar on it.” Die Spitz, she emphasized, “is definitely not just a punk band.” Listeners characterize their sound, which ranges from alt-rock to glam rock, grunge, and metal, by its pervasive fearlessness and masterful use of space between moments of frenzied noise.

Their 2023 album Teeth alludes (purposefully or not) to the 2007 movie about women reclaiming their sexual autonomy by punishing their abusers. “Groping Dogs Gushing Blood” describes a relationship where the tables have turned and the singer’s partner may have bit off more than they can chew. The album’s cover – a defiant, blood-filled woman’s grin – visually reinforces the vengeful narrative. They continue with the theme of the rage of womanhood in their newer work. The 2024 singles “I Hate When GIRLS Die” & “Little Flame” feel more angry than vindictive, and continue to pierce through with clear vocals over blazing guitars.

Die Spitz’s world tour kicks off in May with shows across the United States and Europe, currently ending with an October date in their hometown of Austin, Texas. Their debut LP with Third Man Records is set to release later this year.
